What to do in Albury, NSW during the Winter Season

winter in albury

Albury experiences various weather patterns like rain alone, snow alone, or a mixture of both during the cold season which falls from June to August. A 7.7 °C | 45.8 °F was the average recorded lowest temperature which can occur during July.

We know staying indoors, sipping coffee or tea, sitting by the fireplace, or staying warm in a hydronic heated house is your best bet, but why not explore the outdoors and mingle with others during this cold weather.

As stated by Marian University, the winter months are when seasonal affective disorder (SAD) usually occurs due to depression. To help you know where to go in Albury during the winter season and avoid SAD, here are places or activities you can go to or enjoy:

1. On Your Backyard

You don’t need to go anywhere far, you can just simply go outside and enjoy the falling snow and build a snowman with your kids or friends. Going outside would allow you to soak up some much-needed natural vitamin D which helps to prevent diseases and improve bone health.

Having a nice winter walk will help you to stretch your body and lose some weight. It is known that you burn more calories during the cold season as your bodies used more energy to keep you warm. So keep moving and be healthy.

2. Take a Trip to a Coffee Shop

Who would not love a sip of Coffee during the winter? Take a little trip to Coffee Mamma Albury and take a sip of freshly roasted espresso they’ve been serving since 2003. You can also partner it with some sweet treats that surely make your trip worthwhile. You can also buy some packaged beans and roast them yourself on your own time.

If you aren’t much of a coffee enthusiast, you can also enjoy their other offerings like frappe’s and milkshakes.

3. Toast to some Freshly Crafted Beer

If you want something stronger to shake off the wintry chill, you can go to Albury Brewhouse and take a sip of their freshly crafted beer and other in-house beers.

We might recommend drinking heavier beer like a stout or higher ABV beers like a strong ale to keep you warm. Alcohol drinking increases blood flow to our skin which helps us to feel more comfortable during the cold. But be sure to drink moderately as consuming too much alcohol is dangerous to your health.

4. Enjoy Excellent Meal Dishes

If you happen to be craving something to eat, the Bended Elbow is a good place to visit. They offer extensive and reasonably priced meal dishes, beer, and burgers. They also have ongoing dinner specials you can check out or just simply welcome the weekend by enjoying some live music on a Friday night.

Staying indoors during the winter is okay but adding a little trip outside will improve the body and mind preventing you from being restless after being cooped up indoors. Enjoy the outdoor, have fun, and be safe!

Thinking of moving to a new place? Moving to a new place is both scary and rewarding, you just need to know where you want to move first. So why take a look at the benefits of living in Albury and take a glimpse of your future home. See you!
